Gerstle Mack (1894-1983), a friend of William Alexander Percy, was born in San Francisco. He got a degree in Architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was in both World Wars. He wrote two books on Spanish architecture, three books on French artists, and a book on the Panama Canal. He died in New York City.
