My Thoughts - Jews About 15 years ago I was published in the NY Times regarding the birth order of the Jewish community. In the Jewish scriptures and the New Testament, the father determined whether their offspring were Jewish. Eventually, if you were Jewish transcended from the mother.
Historically, Jews have been identified into two major groups: the Ashkenazim, or "Germanics" and the Sephardim. The far more recent term Mizrahim, or "Easterners" to include Middle Eastern and North African Jews, constitutes a third major group to some; following the partition of Palestine, their often-forced migration, and the re-establishment of their communities in Israel. There are a multitude of other smaller groups of the Jewish community.
Slavery in contrast with drug demand The consensus today is that only a trickle of slaves arrived in the US after the slave trade was prohibited in 1880. However, about 250,000 came in during the prohibition mainly through Cuba. They were taught a few words of English before they were transferred to the Gulf Coast. The demand of cotton and slaves were the same as illegal drugs are in demand today.
